SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy (SR1 CPSA) Educator (Kindergarten)

SR1 CPSA Educator Job Summary: Are you a dedicated and passionate educator who desires to see students grow and learn? Do you have the energy to serve as an innovative educator for Kindergarten? If so, SR1 CPSA is the environment for you. The SR1 CPSA Educator must have a valid MS Educator License to serve as an innovative educator for Kindergarten students. SR1 CPSA Educators will use innovative educational and entertainment techniques with emphasis on hands-on learning to provide Kindergarten students with deep learning of grade-level content.
The SR1 CPSA Educator will also assist Kindergarten students by providing a holistic student-centered approach focused on academic and social skills, while infusing STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) across content areas to promote college access and success.
SR1 CPSA Overview
SR1 CPSA is located in northern Madison County and is the first free College Preparatory and STEM public charter school located in the state of Mississippi. SR1 CPSA is located within Canton Municipal School District, but students who are in surrounding school districts that are rated a “C” or below are also able to attend. The mission of the SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy (SR1 CPSA) is to ensure all elementary students have access to a positive and robust learning environment that infuses Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) across content areas. SR1 CPSA students will demonstrate growth and proficiency as they graduate prepared to excel in middle school with a solid academic foundation and intrinsic drive to succeed in college. Long term, our students will apply their college degrees to developing solutions to local, global, and environmental challenges as they break generational gaps and diversify the professional workforce. SR1 CPSA will implement best practices and serve as a model school for globally competitive public education.
Qualifications
Possess proper certification and current licensure for position as required by the Mississippi Department of Education.
Hold at least a valid Class “A” License issued by the Mississippi State Department of Education and endorsed in the field of instruction to which he/she is assigned
Clear background check.
Have met other qualifications and requirements as established by SR1 CPSA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Works closely with administration and staff to develop an appropriate instructional program.
Develop and deliver appropriate instructional lessons consistent with adopted school curriculum.
Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of all students.
Prepare written plans for each day’s lessons.
Establish appropriate plans for substitute teachers.
Work with specific program and special education staff to best serve the educational needs of all students.
Attends IEPs and/or 504 meetings as required.
Create an environment that is conducive to learning.
Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior that adhere to SR1 CPSA’s philosophy on discipline.
Communicate expectations regarding student behavior to students and parent/guardians.
Monitor progress and interpret evaluation results of students on a regular basis and provide appropriate progress reports.
Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and SR1 CPSA policy.
Attend staff meetings, serve on committees, and participate in in-service activities.
Keep a current inventory of classroom curriculum materials, supplies, and equipment.
Provide learning experiences for students with their ability and interest and which promote high expectations for all students equivalent to their ability and interest and which promote high expectations for all students.
Develop written lesson plans aligned with Mississippi College and Career Readiness Standards containing specific performance objectives.
Monitor student performance by becoming thoroughly familiar with the student’s records and utilizing student data to improve instruction.
Provide a safe, orderly atmosphere conducive to learning.
Develop and maintain a classroom discipline plan in keeping with SR1 CPSA policies and procedures.
Be responsible for supervision of students inside and outside the classroom as required by SR1 CPSA policy.
Assist in selecting supplies, materials, textbooks, and equipment to enhance learning.
Participate in professional staff development activities.
Strive for excellence in all school related endeavors.
Cooperate with staff in planning and implementing system-wide goals and objectives.
Attend regular and called faculty meetings.
Keep accurate records and provide students with feedback on completed assignments.
Upgrade teaching certificate as required by state certification standards and school policy.
Be punctual and conscientious in school attendance and participate in related functions as assigned by the principal.
Assist in upholding and enforcing SR1 CPSA rules and regulations, administrative procedures, and board policies.
Maintain good public relations with parents/guardians, students, and the community.
Assist in the continuing development of subject area curriculum objectives.
Make provision for being available to parents/guardians of enrolled students for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
Be aware of and adhere to the rules and regulations, policies, and procedures governing special education programs within the state and school.
Be knowledgeable of the school’s curriculum, Mississippi College and Career Readiness Standards, Mississippi Student Assessments, FLE skills in his/her subject area(s)
Participate cooperatively in the supervision-evaluation process for the purpose of improving instruction and student achievement.
Assist other teachers in the instructional improvement process.
Work collegially with other teachers in the sharing of ideas and skills.
Perform all other duties and responsibilities assigned by the principal in order to contribute to an effective school operation.
