Canton, Miss. (February 28, 2025) – SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy (SR1 CPSA) continues to elevate its mission of global leadership, cultural awareness, and STEM excellence through a dynamic event that brought together trailblazing women from Nigeria, cutting-edge digital learning, and in-depth lessons on the continent of Africa.
Nigerian Leaders Inspire Students with the Vanguard Spirit
As part of its commitment to developing globally aware students, SR1 CPSA welcomed three influential Nigerian women who shared their expertise, personal journeys, and cultural heritage with students:
Blessing Asuquo-Ekpo, a Ph.D. candidate in Policy from Jackson State University and originally from South Nigeria, provided insights on education policy, leadership, and decision-making in a global context.
Dr. Amaka Ifeduba, a Ph.D. in Agriculture from Texas A&M and a native of Southeast Nigeria, engaged students in discussions about sustainable farming, food security, and agricultural technology.
Oreoluwa Akinboboye, a Finance and Strategy Consultant from Southwest Nigeria, introduced students to the importance of financial literacy, strategic planning, and economic empowerment.
The women also spoke about Nigerian history, fashion, and education, emphasizing the deep cultural connections between Nigeria and the African diaspora.

Students Explore the Continent of Africa
In addition to learning from these remarkable professionals, SR1 CPSA students participated in an immersive learning experience about Africa, exploring its geography, history, and cultural diversity.
Students examined:
The vast landscapes and regions of Africa, from the Sahara Desert to the rainforests of Central Africa.
The historical and modern contributions of African nations in fields such as science, engineering, art, and governance.
The cultural richness of Africa, with discussions on languages, traditions, music, and global influence.
By connecting this knowledge to the experiences of the Nigerian guest speakers, students gained a deeper appreciation of Africa’s global impact and their own connections to the continent’s rich legacy.

Introducing the Digital Book: "Vanguards of History"
Further strengthening SR1 CPSA’s college preparatory and STEM-focused approach, Tzu Hsin Huang of SR1, introduced students to an exciting new digital book project titled "Vanguards of History."
This upcoming interactive book will:
Showcase historical figures from diverse backgrounds who have led change and innovation.
Use digital learning tools to engage students with multimedia storytelling and historical analysis.
Reinforce SR1 CPSA’s commitment to preparing future global leaders through exposure to trailblazers from around the world.
Huang emphasized the importance of understanding history through a global lens, aligning with SR1 CPSA’s vision of ensuring students are academically prepared, culturally conscious, and ready to shape the world.

SR1 CPSA: Shaping the Next Generation of Global Leaders
By hosting inspiring leaders from Nigeria, providing comprehensive lessons on Africa, and introducing innovative digital learning tools, SR1 CPSA continues to empower students with knowledge, leadership skills, and global awareness.
Through these experiences, students are not only excelling in college preparatory and STEM education but are also developing a strong sense of cultural identity and global citizenship—hallmarks of the Vanguard Spirit that SR1 CPSA strives to instill in every student.
With an unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and leadership, SR1 CPSA is preparing students to become future pioneers in education, science, policy, and beyond.
